TOXIC DIET CULTURE

Hi! Welcome back to another blog of the week. Today I am going to be writing about something a little more serious that has affected countless teenagers and other age groups in the whole world. I am talking about something that has taken a toll on our lives so badly that it has completely changed the way we think and perceive things. I am talking about DIET CULTURE which we can call more of a TOXIC DIET CULTURE. Over the years as we were growing up we were so used to seeing perfect bodies on magazines, newspapers, movies' that we started to believe that all bodies should look like that and if yours doesn’t look like that there is something wrong with you, that you are different. Then as we further grew older we started using Instagram and all the other social medias and that was the beginning of the hatred towards ourselves and our bodies. Why? Because everywhere you see we follow models and influencers who after hours and hours of face tune and photoshop are showing you images of themselves that are not even true and you see so much of it that you believe that its true and that’s how bodies are supposed to be. Lean. Then we start to go on diets which barely has food in it and even if it does its not edible. We also start to workout more than our body can take. We start to eat like the actresses and models by taking inspiration from their WHAT I EAT IN A DAY videos which always starts with them showing us how they look by eating what they eat. How do I know so much about this? Well guess what im one of those people who has been fighting the toxic diet culture for days now and I’ve still not gotten out of it completely. What do we actually need to do? Do we need to drink detox drinks? Yes, detox our body of all the illogical nuisance that the world has fed us with. One thing that we don’t hear enough is that “ even if all the people in the world would workout the same, eat the same, have the same skincare routine, have the same living style, have the same dresses… we would still end up looking totally different from each other.” We are not supposed to look the same and have the same bodies. That’s now how god created us. Our life is not a before and after image. We are just doing what we have been told to do to be on the “AFTER” side of that picture. You think your body is a burden but it does so much for you that you don’t even know. It gets you up everyday in the morning. It lets you eat food. It lets you be happy. It lets you go out and enjoy. Most of all it lets you breathe, see, hear and live. Why would you hate someone who does freaking much for you?

Lets talk about one of the many people that shows us “HOW PERFECT THEIR BODIES ARE.” – KIM KARDASHIAN WEST. I think we all know that she always wears a shapewear underneath her dresses to hide cellulite. I cant say that she shouldn’t wear those. Her body her choice. But her brand SKIMS which is also a brand that sells these sold $2 million worth of shapewears in minutes when it launched. Who are the people buying these? US. Why? I guess I have made it pretty clear by now. Everyday approximately 40,000 people google on food charts which lets you eat less than 1200 calories per day. 1200 calories in a day is basically starvation. I can keep giving examples on how people put themselves through hell just to look thin and lean. They would rather choose to starve themselves than have a belly pouch that wont away no matter what they do because that part isnt fat. Its where your reproductive organs are. But where are the influencers who are gonna tell them that? Nowhere to be found. or maybe there are and we are just following the wrong people.

I just wanna say that THE INTERNET IS A LIE. YOU ARE PERFECT AND YOU ARE DOING GREAT.

Thank you for reading. See you next time.

  1. This is such an important topic and so well articulated. I'm so glad you covered this! More people need to know that the internet is a hellhole that shows perfect bodies and skin that's impossible to keep up with. It's okay the way we look and I hope eventually we accept that. Great work!
